THE DEAL CLOSES

IBM’s purchase of Informix is ready to close on Monday, July 2nd. All approvals are in place and Informix Software will be integrated into IBM’s Data Management division. Visit www.iiug.org for the latest, including a letter to IIUG from Janet Perna, the top executive in the Data Management division, to be posted July 2nd. For future product plans, see: www.informix.com/informix/blue/future_directions.htm.

IIC VS. IUC: YOU ASKED FOR IT

Forget about the Informix User Conference! This year’s conference was renamed the IBM Informix Conference (IIC). Could this new moniker be a preview of new product and service branding standards? Only time will tell…

CALL FOR IDEAS… Let us know if you’d like to either do a presentation or if you have ideas for the conference: www.iiug.org/iic/.

The IIUG’s recent survey revealed that you will be more likely to attend IIC if it offers you:

Detailed product roadmaps 53.6% of all respondents
On-site training 30.1%
On-site certification 19.6%
Opportunity to talk with important IBM Data Management representatives 35.9%
Opportunity to influence product roadmaps and feature priority 35.4%

You asked for it and you got it! Conference content is starting to shape up and all the preferences you expressed have been incorporated. See Janet Perna at the opening keynote. Get certified on site. Tell IBM what IDS 9.4 should incorporate. And much, much more…

Please watch our site for up-to-the-minute details.

IIUG BOARD ELECTIONS: THE CLOCK IS TICKING

We are still accepting nominees to the IIUG Board of Directors, but only through June 30. If you have great ideas, enthusiasm, Informix tattooed on your forehead, and enjoy working with IIUG or your local user group, don’t delay.
