IIUG Board Elections 2020
Each year the membership of the International Informix Users Group elects its Board of Directors. Anyone who became an IIUG member at least a month prior to the election is eligible to vote via online ballot at www.iiug.org/election/. This term for the new Board of Directors will begin on January 1st, 2021 and will finish on December 31st, 2022.
The IIUG Board of Directors election is overseen by a Nominating Committee that supervises both the nomination process and the election. The members of Nominating Committee are appointed by the current Board of Directors.
The election is a democratic process whereby candidates who get the most votes and confirm their interest in a timely manner after being contacted will be confirmed as elected. To avoid potential conflicts of interest, votes are automatically tallied and manually validated by the members of the IIUG Nominating Committee who are not standing for election.
Candidates for the IIUG Board of Directors are selected by the IIUG Nominating Committee who try to find nominees that represent a wide geographical membership as well as a mix of product utilization, and who can meet the many and varied challenges and functions of the Board.
The IIUG Board of Directors election is underway
While the IIUG Board is a voluntary entity, it would be advisable for you to understand what is expected of you if you are elected.
The IIUG Board meets three times a year. In the past, two meetings were held over a weekend and required traveling. This year we may return to that or meetings may be virtual. In addition, the Board met during the IIUG conference which was a full week. Again, if we are unable to have an in person conference, this third meeting may also be virtual. All meetings are mandatory. Travel, hotel and dining are covered for all in person meetings and the IIUG conference fee is waived for Board members.
The IIUG Board holds a monthly call. Because we are an international group residing in different time zones the call is set to 1 PM US Eastern. This call is mandatory. Occasionally other, usually optional, calls are scheduled.
In order to expedite communication, board members are requested to reply within a week to e-mail messages addressed directly to them or to the Board email group address. All board discussions are to be kept in confidence unless the Board decides otherwise, including e-mails.
Bear in mind, serving on the IIUG Board requires more than just a monthly call and three board meetings. Board members are required to invest a considerable amount of time carrying out various board tasks.
Work for the IIUG Board takes priority over your regular work and private life. Make sure this is known and supported by your employer and family.

Questionnaire: If you are not a current Board member, you must complete this questionnaire and submit it to IIUG Election Commissioner. Current Board members need only submit an updated election address.
If you are interested in joining the IIUG Board of Directors submit the required information to the Election Commissioner (mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org) no later than midnight EST Monday November 19, 2020 to be considered for a Board position.
