OK, I buy the array, but why in Himmel RAID10? It’s SO expensive!
OH, and what the heck is ‘plaid’, besides something dead men don’t wear?
More controllers? But SCSI-3 handles 16 drives per controller? Yes, but a Ultra160 controller can handle a max of ~80MB/sec sustained scan traffic and each 10000 RPM drive can deliver a sustained transfer over 200MB/sec. 3-4 drives can swamp the controller under load!
