The NTIUG is proud to announce we are hosting Nancy Balsbaugh from IIUG, Mark Scranton, Principal Tech Trainer and Consultant for IBM in Denver, Joe Lumbley, the author of "Informix DBA Survival Guide" and Ravi Balakrishnan from Gillani, Inc. at our next NTIUG meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2002, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. It will be an ALL-DAY meeting.
The bulk of this meeting will consist of a very condensed version of a new IBM Informix class, "DB2 for IDS Administrators", and will be taught by Mark Scranton. Because of limited seating, it is very important that you RSVP if you intend to come to the meeting by October 18th.
Nancy Balsbaugh is an IIUG Board of Directors member, has over 10 years of experience as a Unix System Administrator and Informix DBA. She is Informix Certified and works for Advanced DataTools Corporation in the Rocky Mountain Region. Nancy is dedicated to Informix and Informix users. She recently revived the Informix Users Group of Colorado and is active on the IUGOC Board of Directors. She is also IIUG Local User Group Board member who is responsible for the North Texas LUG. She will give us a recap of 2002 IIUG and IBM Datamanagement Conference held in Anaheim, CA.
Mark Scranton is a Principal Tech Trainer and
Consultant for IBM in Denver. He has been focused on IDS & XPS engines since
joining Informix in July of 1995. Mark teaches the following classes most often:
IDS Internal Architecture
IDS/XPS Perf Tuning
IDS/XPS
Sys Admin
Managing/Optimizing
Custom Classes/Tuning
IDS/XPS Masters Series Workshops
He is a contributing author to "The Informix Handbook", as well as
Informix Tech Notes and IBM/Informix Developer Zone. More recently, Mark has
presented the "DB2 for IDS Administrators" class at several
LUG's.
Joe Lumbley needs no introduction to the Informix community. He is the author of "Informix DBA Survival Guide", resides in Dallas and will talk about IDS new features and retooling to IBM products.
We
have also arranged to present on Informix-4GL. All Informix-4GL developers, mark
your calendar !
Ravi Balakrishnan
from Gillani, Inc.
will present "Utilizing extended programming capabilities to Informix-4GL
via FourGen CASE Tools (Formerly Informix-4GL 'FORMS')".
The meeting is being held at 1501 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75234. Typing the below address into http://www.mapquest.com and giving your current location should provide you with quality directions to the meeting place off the Luna Road intersection. You should park in the parking garage and will need to get security to let you in. When you have entered the building, let the main security desk agents that you have a meeting in 1501A. He/she will know where you are needing to go and will assist you in locating the rest of us.
