Software Repository Submissions

Have you developed software that you find useful or that demonstrates a clever solution to a common problem? If so, you should consider contributing it to the IIUG Software Repository. We're always looking for applications, utilities and scripts that Informix users might find useful.

Your files do not have to be 100% perfect before you submit them. People who download software from the Repository do so with the understanding that it will probably have to be tailored to fit their needs.

Placing software in the Repository does not of itself affect any proprietary rights you may have in the material. You may place whatever notices or claims you deem appropriate in your files. Of course, once software goes into the Repository, it is available to the public worldwide. If you have concerns in that regard, you may want to seek professional advice before submitting your software.

We do not accept submissions that involve financial remuneration, even shareware that only requests a donation. Files you put in the Repository should be freely distributable. This is not to say that you will not necessarily be rewarded, however. Contributing to the Repository increases your visibility in the Informix community, and has helped advance the careers of a number of contributors.

We usually accept only source code. We sometimes make an exception for software that is targeted at an environment where users are less likely to have the capability to generate the necessary executables, such as utilities for the PC or Macintosh.

The preferred method of submission is to create a gzipped tar file containing the source files associated with your software. If there is no other documentation or help file, create a brief README file and include it in the file. Other acceptable formats are PC zip archive files.
