64bit IDS and TMPdbs ?

Posted By: Randy Barbati
Date: Friday, 13 May 2005, at 2:57 p.m.

Does anyone know of problems, differences, bugs or patches with 64bit
Informix and in regards to tmpdbs management ?

We are seeing odd behaviors, one such listed below but that differs in
characteristics from say a insert into temp table.
I just cut and pasted my rough notes below, not "techy" but may offer an
idea of what the trouble is.
We started seeing more out of disk space" errors and sluggish performance
after going to 7.31FD6x4 64bit (from 7.31UC6x9 32 bit).
Also now on Solaris 9 64bit.

I appreciate any info !
Thank you !
Randy

oh and 2 notes:

this is a great resource !:

erf.doc/perf137.htm

And trivia on tmpdbspace - if you didnt know....
"select * from tablename into temp" - will use ROOTDBS for temp space
where
"select * from tablename into temp WITH NO LOG" - will use tmpdbs

-----------------------------------

> Here's the skinny:
>
> Prd has 6GB of tmpdbs in 2 DBspaces
> Ews has 2GB in 1 Dbspace
> Dev has 1.5GB in 3 Dspaces
