SAP Mix

Urgent!!!,Reg. Chunk pathnames sequence mismatch....

Posted By:

Hello all,

I would like to clarify regarding the chunk path name on the informix
reserved pages using sapdba or through Informix utility.

In the past, we created chunk path names not in sequence by mistake. Hence
it doesn't follow the SAP standards for some of the links. Now, we are going
to move the existing data to a new storage. I'm thinking of possibilities to
correct the sequence mismatch issue during the storage upgrade. I cant just
drop the contents of the chunk and restore since there are quite a few chunk
paths with mismatched sequence.

A) For example, the original path names for some of the links are
maps to
/informix/TST/physdev1/data1--> infdbv001 (Logical volume name - Old
storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data2--> infdbv002 (Logical volume name - Old
storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data3--> infdbv003 (Logical volume name - Old
storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data7--> infdbv004 (Logical volume name - Old
storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data8--> infdbv005 (Logical volume name - Old
storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data9--> infdbv006 (Logical volume name - Old
storage)

B) When we actually move the database to the new storage, I'm thinking of a
logic to re-map the links something like below before starting the restore
to achieve the sequence of links.
I will have a new folder TST under Informix directory. I will map the
old links as follow to restore the database onto the new storage. While
doing that, i would like correct the chunk paths

maps
/informix/TST/physdev1/data1 --> /informix/NEW/physdev1/data1 --> infdbv300
(Logical Volume name - New storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data2 --> /informix/NEW/physdev1/data2 --> infdbv301
(Logical Volume name - New storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data3 --> /informix/NEW/physdev1/data3 --> infdbv302
(Logical Volume name - New storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data7 --> /informix/NEW/physdev1/data4 --> infdbv303
(Logical Volume name - New storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data8 --> /informix/NEW/physdev1/data5 --> infdbv304
(Logical Volume name - New storage)
/informix/TST/physdev1/data9 --> /informix/NEW/physdev1/data6 --> infdbv305
(Logical Volume name - New storage)

Query
---------
1) Will it be possible to update the internal pages with the above sequence
explained in (B) after the restore ?
2) SAPDBA-> Rename chunks paths can only change the SID and not the
subfolders. Does it have any alternative ?
3) I can relocate the links as mentioned in (B) using the "ln" command for
the restore to happen in different location say <NEW> with the correct
sequence. But how do i alter the internal reserved pages bcos it still
have the TST name sub-folder path on the reserved pages ?

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rajesh Rajasekaran
