Hi,
After the restore, ensure the following steps

1) Login to dbaccess by connecting to sysmaster database and rename PRD
database as SBX
2) Change the sqlhosts file setup such as servername,
hostname,servicename w.r.t. SBX.
3) Point the database related env. variables to SBX,ONCONFIG to SBX
onconfig.
Note: We keep the copies of SBX,PRD setup files and keep switching to
these files before & after refresh
to reduce change time
4) Shutdown and logout the telnet session.
5) Login and restart the database.

Hope this helps

And once you restore your production backup to your sandbox machine, how do
you tell the sandbox "IT" is not your production system but instead a copy
of it on another machine? How do you change it's name and all references to
the original production system, if there are any?

Hallo Cathy,

You don't have to change to parameter but you have to register a new node
to server.
Login into server with dsmadmc and your admin account and password and do:

register node informix domain=standard

then you have to register the server name in dsm.opt file (can be in
/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64)
like for example:

Servername tsm_informix

and register it into dsm.sys, like for example:

SErvername tsm_informix
COMMmetthod TCPip
TCPPort 1500
TCPServeraddress is0066 -> machine name where your TSM server runs !!!
nodename informix
PASSWORDACCESS generate -> it must be so because of onbar
PASSWORDDIR /etc/adsm
compression yes

I assume you have already installed TDP fo Informix. Then you have to setup
your environment:

setenv DSMI_DIR /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64
setenv DSMI_LOG /home/informix/tsm_logdir
setenv DSMI_INF_DIR /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/informix/bin64
setenv DSMI_CONFIG /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64/dsm.opt

Next step ist to edit your onconfig file and set a path to XBSA library:

BAR_BSALIB_PATH=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/informix/bin64/bsashr10.o for AIX
64Bit, libTDPinf64.sl for HP-UX 64Bit

and then edit $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sm_versions file and create a line for TSM:
1|4.1.0|adsm|4

1 - must be so
4.1.0 - TSM API version.release.level
adsm - SM application name which is recognized by onbar
4 - TSM version

Regards
Janusz.

I need to rebuild a sandbox system using my current production database.
This is my first time doing this with TDP and I'm not sure how I point the
server manager to restore the production database backup to the sandbox
machine. I'm guessing that I have to change the nodename parameter in dsm
file, how is the question.

Can anyone give me some guidance?

Thanks
