Any experiences with versioning?

Hi,

I am workin in an environment where the etl part is running over time
regularly. The users start running queries which are canceled when the data
is ready to load. Implementing versioning would allow the queries to
complete. I am concerned about the impact on the loads, the difference in
results from queries, time taken to copy all data from the version log back
to the database, running backups in this environment, etc.

I would appreciate any real life experiences to help streamline my testing
and possible implementation. At the moment I am testing with query revision
freeze, since this would create the maximum amount of data.

Some details to help
1. Running 6.1, looking at moving to 6.2 ( segmented target indexes should
dramatically reduce the amount of data written to the version log )
2. Amount of data in the database is 1,25 terebytes.
3. Amount altered each day varies between 30 and 60 gigs.
4. All fact atbles have target and star indexes.
5. Only small fact tables are 'modified'
6. The largest fact table has data covering up to 7 months - hence existing
blocks may be modifed.
