OAT install on HPUX

Well, I attended the event in Beaverton, got back to work, and thought "you know, I should join the 21st century and install a modern version of Informix - especially so I can try out that new-fangled OpenAdmin tool everyone was oohing and ahhing about!"

So, installed 11.10 - no issues. Go to install OAT - Argh!!!

1) Find package I downloaded a while ago, and copy it to my test server.
2) Uncompress it, read install directions. Already starting to quirk an eyebrow...
3) OK, HPUX (in this case, 11.11) comes with a pre-built Apache, as part of the web services package. It's already installed. Good!
4) Find that there is a version of PHP included - strange path, but I can work with that...
5) Find php.ini, edit it - added the extension lines at the end, because I can't find any "pdo" lines already. Not liking this trend.
6) Uncompress OAT in the right spot, restart web server
7) Go to web page, check that I agree to the license. Immediate scream that I don't have PDO, the 2 other dlls that I added at step 5, and soap.
8) More reading, eventually find the PDO_INFORMIX download. Extract that at the right spot.
9) Notice that the instructions online say to run "./configure", but I don't SEE a "configure" included with this package... Oh, well.
10) Try running "config.m4" - syntax error. Try running "configure.in" - syntax error.
11) Re-read instructions, realize that there was a step I missed. Run "phpize" - and get logged out of the system...

I'm getting a little annoyed at this point. From what I can tell, I'm going to have to install a separate php package, configure Apache to point to it instead (breaking who knows what else), figure out the correct "configure" command to build the PDO module, and hope that "make" works on this for HPUX (I haven't had much luck with this before, and have spent a lot of time looking for obscure packages to get compiles to work). After that, I might be able to get it functioning...

Am I missing something here? Is there any rational reason that it should be this complicated??? We're downloading this software from IBM - would it have seriously hurt to include the necessary OS localization drivers with either the server download or the OAT download?

Lets face it - if I wanted to waste time building binaries, I'd be running this on Linux (no offence), where that sort of thing is expected! I know that this tool isn't "essential" to the 11.10 install, but it is something that really impressed me (and a few other people there) when I saw it - it had that "wow" factor that is really needed these days. However, I (as is just about everyone else) am working at least 2 jobs - I don't have the inclination to waste a day or two just to get pretty pictures working...

I will be overjoyed if someone can produce something obvious that I have missed here. Note that "run it on Windows/Linux" is NOT the answer I am looking for.

Thanks!
