Here is the fix for running linux 8.0 and ids 9.3uc2 ++ for anyone that is interested. we seem to be up and running fine.

library.

Title *
IBM Informix Dynamic Server 9 family servers will not start on
RedHat Linux 7.3
Abstract * The oninit command fails with an error that the function
__on_exit is undefined and the server will fail to come online. The server
fails to run.

This problem occurs with IBMÂ® InformixÂ® Dynamic Serverâ„¢ versions 9.x on
RedHatÂ® Linux 7.3 with glibc-2.2.5-34.
Content * PROBLEM
The oninit command fails with an error that the function
__on_exit is undefined and the server will fail to come online. The server
fails to run. This problem occurs with IBMÂ® InformixÂ® Dynamic
Serverâ„¢ versions 9.x on RedHatÂ® Linux 7.3 with glibc-2.2.5-34.
SOLUTION
Request a new product that addresses defect number 156394.
WORKAROUNDS
Workaround 1 (IntelÂ® compatible processors, PENTIUMÂ® II or
higher)
Check if /lib/i686/libpthread.so.0 exists
Determine if your oninit has a dependency on
/lib/i686/libpthread.so.0. To do this log in as user informix and use the
UNIX command ldd against your oninit binary like this:

ldd $INFORMIXDIR/bin/oninit

Pipe the output to grep to search for the library name
/lib/i686/libpthread.so.0. If the library is listed then continue to step
3. If not try Workaround 2 below.

Remove the symbolic link /var/lib/libpthread.so.0
Workaround 2 (other Linux systems)
On other Linux systems a patched libifxpthread.so library can
be obtained by contacting IBM Technical Support for IBM Informix products.
To add the library to your system:
Copy the new libifxpthread.so library to $INFORMIXDIR/lib
directory.
The access rights and ownership of the library should be
-rwxr-xr-x with owner and group both informix.
