Lots of questions arise, but the first one to deal with is the type -
what is the type of the salary field in the database, and what is the
type in the form? One way you could run into the problem is if the
salary field on the form is a DECIMAL(4); it will then only accept 4
significant digits. I don't rate it as a plausible solution, but it
might be what you're running into.

I assume you're using I4GL? Or is it ISQL? Which version, on which
platform, against which Informix DBMS - SE or XPS or IDS and version?
