The webblade can do a direct or indirect connection depending on how it is
configured. All (probably most) use the direct method and bind the
connectivity libraries into apache/netscape/IIS. There are some issues with
64bit and Apache unless you are happy to use the IBM 64bit Apache port.
With Windows you must be use the Server version of windows (which is a pain
for client site demos)

Personally I don't like JSTL as I've had problems with the parsing in the
past
