loguear usuarios al conectar

Hola a todos, les cuento un poco el backgrownd:

en un servidor repleto de bases de datos, donde los administradores
anteriores no dejaron documentación, quiero loguear el uso de las bases de
datos, usuarios, desde dónde se conectan, y qué bases usan.

Puedo ver qué usuarios, desde dónde y a qué bases están conectados en un
momento dado, de una manera muy bonita y ordenada, haciendo:

SELECT distinct a.sid, a.username, a.hostname, b.odb_dbname ,

pid, ttyerr tty FROM

sysmaster:'informix'.sysscblst a , sysmaster:'informix'.sysopendb b
WHERE

a.sid = b.odb_sessionid and b.odb_iscurrent='Y'
into temp temptable;

select distinct current,username,hostname,odb_dbname from temptable;

Pero eso me da una instantánea, y yo quisiera ver quienes se loguearon a qué
bases desde dónde.

Se me ocurre crear un trigger sobre la tabla sysscblst (que tiene la
información sobre usuarios/hosts) para que me inserte en una tabla hecha
ad-hoc la info que quiero:
la tabla:

create table 'informix'.userlog (

id SERIAL not null,

sid INT not null,

username CHAR(32) not null,

hostname CHAR(256),

dbname CHAR(256),

login DATETIME YEAR TO SECOND default current YEAR TO SECOND not null,

logout DATETIME YEAR TO SECOND

el trigger:
CREATE TRIGGER userlog_login_ti
INSERT
ON sysscblst
REFERENCING NEW AS new
FOR EACH ROW (

execute procedure userlog_sp(new.sid, new.username, new.hostname));

el sp:
CREATE PROCEDURE userlog_sp(sid int, username char(32), hostname char(256))

DEFINE dbname char(256);

SELECT odb_dbname into dbname
FROM sysopendb
WHERE
sid = odb_sessionid and odb_iscurrent='Y';

insert into userlog(id, sid, username, hostname, dbname)

values(0, sid, username, hostname, dbname);

Como verán, tengo también un campo 'logout' en la tabla userlog, donde
quiero guardar el dato de cuándo termina la sesión, por lo que tengo un 2do
trigger que hace:

CREATE TRIGGER userlog_logout_ti
DELETE
ON sysscblst
REFERENCING OLD as old
FOR EACH ROW(

update userlog set logout=current

where sid=old.sid);

Ahora bien, en la tabla userdata no hay nada, no se inserta nada.

Aquí vienen entonces las preguntas:
Es correcto suponer que puedo hacer un trigger sobre una tabla de sistema?
Es correcto el conjunto trigger / store procedure planteado?
Existe alguna manera para loguear esta información?
