U didn't provide the error in the online log ..:-) I am assuming its
errno=1 (Not Owner). If that's the case, please follow the following
instructions and you should be able to bring up the engine using KAIO.

Create "/etc/privgroup" and add the following line where groupname is the
group
your Informix user belongs to:

groupname MLOCK

You can then reboot or run "setprivgrp -f /etc/privgroup" to see if this
resolves the issue. You can run
getprivgrp to see that the setprivgrp command was successful. See my
example.

# more /etc/privgroup
informix MLOCK
# getprivgrp
global privileges: CHOWN
# setprivgrp -f /etc/privgroup
# getprivgrp
global privileges: CHOWN
informix: MLOCK

I set KAIO in my profile and Informix failed to initialise.

I have already enable the /dev/async kernel in HP UX 11.x
