You can do that. Assuming you want to eventually go back to 64bit, install
the 32bit server in a separate directory (ie different INFORMIXDIR) and copy
the sqlhosts and ONCONFIG file from the 64bit $INFORMIXDIR/etc to the 32bit
one. Shutdown the 64bit engine and bring up the 32bit engine. Done.

BTW, why downgrade to 32bit? The 64bit instance should be performing a bit
faster than 32bit was, and you have more flexibility for tuning - larger
buffer cache, etc.
