Thanks.
We're using ontape.

I was thinking more of if there was a disaster such as a fire, and we lost the
machine and the logs along with it. Then we would only have last night's level
0, and no logs at all to roll foward.

Thanks everyone for your help.
It looks like as long as we're using ontape, there should be no problems.
