RE: Re: Update Statistics - Questions

You have to run update stats against the tables where indexes, or data has
changed.

Using PDQPRIORITY could be a good idea.
Document http://www.iiug.org/iuc2002_pdf/d13.pdf discuss update stats and
handles also PDQPRIORITY for stats.
But don't use it for update stats for procedure because PDQPRIORITY will be
stored in the procedure, so later when executing the procedures everyone has
this PDQPRIORITY and everyone try to catch enough resources. And this can
cause very much problems. I've the experience. (See also performance guide)

On the other hand you could find on the IIUG site a program 'dostats' that
do very well the work for you and there exists a script that allow to start
multiple 'dostats' program in parallel. Very efficient on multi-processors.

Hi!

I actually do a lot of work with Informix migration to IDS9.30 and analyses
with performance.
When I have to run "update statistics low drop distributions"?
When I have to run "update statistics low" or " medium/high"?
When run "update statistics" every night on our databases.

When I run "update statistics low drop distributions" it tooks a very long
time.
Are there any possibilities to speed up this job ( I have read something
with PDQ???? )?
