In Response To: Visualization tools for Geodetic Datablade? (Ken Tanaka)

Thanks for the feedback Jean.

I will look into the mapserver and see how easy it is to connect to the
database.

I did look at the openmap viewer that came with the Geodetic DataBlade,
however the contents for this file weren't documented as well as I'd
have liked for connecting to a database. I did modify a copy of the
configuration file "openmap.properties" in my home directory and
duplicated another layer that looked like a database connection,
substituting in parameters to our own database, but still didn't get a
connection to the geodetic table. An exception was thrown that I still
don't know how to deal with yet:

java.sql.SQLException: Cannot use database commands in an explicit
database connection.

at com.informix.jdbc.IfxSqli.errorDone(IfxSqli.java:3109)

at com.informix.jdbc.IfxSqli.dispatchMsg(IfxSqli.java:2066)
at com.informix.jdbc.IfxSqli.receiveMessage(IfxSqli.java:1995)
at com.informix.jdbc.IfxSqli.executeCommand(IfxSqli.java:664)
at
com.informix.jdbc.IfxResultSet.executeUpdate(IfxResultSet.java:275)
at
com.informix.jdbc.IfxStatement.executeUpdateImpl(IfxStatement.java:736)
at
com.informix.jdbc.IfxStatement.executeUpdate(IfxStatement.java:198)
at com.informix.geodetic.util.SQLWorker.connect(SQLWorker.java:284)
at com.informix.geodetic.util.SQLWorker.run(SQLWorker.java:236)

For now the most promising route may be writing desired output to a text
file, and using ArcTools to create viewable geometry from that.
