Dear SIG subscriber,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Jean Georges Perrin, I am a member of
the Board of Directors of the IIUG. Recently, the board appointed me to
become the "SIG master", thus this is now one additional activity for me.

Now that we know each other, let's come to the purpose of this e-mail:
primarily I'd like to know what we can do to enhance this Special Interest
Group.

This group has been fairly silent recently and I'd like to know why and how
we can improve traffic.


Secondly, I'd like to call for volunteers. We are looking for champions to
animate the lists. As a champion, your role will be:
- Animate the list: provide some news, try to find some help for some
issues, and publicize the list...
- Bring back some news to the board on the list evolution; help the ENews
team to highlight some major discussions and threads in the list...
- Have your name listed in the list, along with your e-mail (we have a
system to keep your e-mail anonymous and protect you from SPAM).
- ...

On behalf of the board, I'd like to thank Sean Durity who's certainly our
Linux champion and who's commitment to the linux-informix makes it a
success.

We are also looking for Vendor champions who can help us maintain the
efficiency of these lists. We'd like to thank Jonathan Leffler for his help.
