Hmmm... there should be a cast from TEXT to lvarchar, and also (as of
9.20) from TEXT to CLOB.
I assume you're querying the remote table, e.g.
select remotedb:remotetable.TEXTColumn, ...

I wonder if it's the combination of a remote table and a cast (implicit or
explicit). Maybe it's trying to do the cast on the remote (7.x) system???

Some ideas to try, mainly for diagnostics but maybe they will inspire a
solution [untested]:

- Eliminate the remote table. Create local table (in 9.2 database) with
TEXT column. Populate it. Try to query it from Web Blade.

- Eliminate Web Blade. Try the same queries (without any cast, and with
the various casts) from dbaccess, while connected to the 9.2x database.

- Eliminate 7.x. Try creating a table with TEXT column in another 9.2
database. Populate it. Try to query it remotely from the first 9.2
database.

- Try separating the remote query from the cast. Create a view in 9.2
database of
SELECT * FROM "the 7.x table with TEXT column".
(without or with a cast). Then select from the view, without or with
casts, from dbaccess or Web Blade.

Hi,

I need help with this:

I want to query a text datatype in an Informix 7 (webdatablade not
registered on this database) from a webpage stored in Informix 9.21
database - webblade registered. The error I get - No cast from text
to lvarchar.

I then tried to cast:
fieldname:: clob :: html and
fieldname:: clob :: html :: lvarchar and
fieldnamet :: clob :: lvarchar - but still get errors???

How can I view this field in HTML???
