Re: Connectivity problems with DDW application.

Posted By:
Date:

I just thought of one more thing to check (if re-creating sysmaster
doesn't fix your problem):
I vaguely remember one case where one user of DDW could not connect to IDS
(while other users in the same shop could connect). As I recall, there
was some problem with case (upper vs. lower). The server name or host
name in SetNet32 (either the server / host name in the "Server
Information" tab, or the host name in the "Host Information" tab, or
possibly INFORMIXSERVER in the "Environment" tab) was upper case, but the
host / server name on the IDS server machine (server / host in sqlhosts,
and/or possibly DBSERVERNAME / DBSERVERALIASES in onconfig) was in lower
case. Or something like that. I think DDW insists that a given value
(host or server) be the same case everywhere, even though other Informix
client apps don't. Sorry so vague...

Changing the case of the name in SetNet32 (in the "Server Information" or
"Host Information" tabs) might have been tricky: might have had to rename
the server / host to something else, then back to the right name in the
right case; or simply delete the entry and re-create it. Or directly edit
the registry entries (*carefully*): run regedit.exe, find key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Informix\SQLHOSTS\
, find your server key, and rename either the key (server name) or the
value data for value name "HOST".

HTH. Let me know whether any of this works!

- Don

It just not display the list of database belonging to instance server
db_sales, other databases belonging to another instance server is listed
here when i set up them via setnet32.

Site Manager often fails to connect to instance server db_sales listed at
left panel with error mesg "Failed to connect to db_sales" , at CLI prompt
, i can use informix utility to work with databases belonging to db_sales
well, onstat- g sql allows us to see what userthread/session doing by SQL
command, Site Manager intended to connect to all databases withing
db_sales.

Yes, it's no problem.

> From Site Manager, can you connect to another database in server
db_sales?
No, because as mentioned that at first time when i connect to server
db_sales via Site Manager, the problem issued as mentioned, so that i can
not connect to any databases in server db_sales.
(If no others exist besides "sales", create one.)

Ok, if this can help me to resolve this.

HTH.

Subject: Connectivity problems with DDW application. [7]

Hi Friends,

Before i could still operate with my database for web site management
deals by DDW2.0 (Data Directory Web application) but now the problem
issused that prevented me from accessing to this database (e.g: my
database named "sales" on database server named db_sales), the only error
message said that "failed to connect to DB": db_sales"), however i can
still ! connect & work with this database via SQL editor normally, also
operating well with other database servers that i had established
connections to them via setnet32 setting.

My Questions: in case of the problem above, what right procedure to
correct this problem, i suppose that the databse sysmaster on db_sales but

i don't know which portion of sysmaster is damaged or wrong ?.

Anyone know this, pls teach me how to correct it.
