I use 4gl to create an near xml text file.
I wrote a perl script that reads such a file and uses it to drive
PDFlib to generate PDF document.
I run this script from inside the 4GL program after I have closed the
report file. After the PDF file is generated I can use the same script
to deliver it where I want.
We have found this very powerful and robust.
PDFlib is a commercial software package from Germany.
