First, make certain that the instance is not already running. If not then run:

ipcs -a|fgrep informix
if there are any shared memory segments or semaphores owned by informix first
try running: 'onmode -ky' to get rid of them. If that doesn't work you'll need
to use ipcrm to delete the entries one at a time (see 'man ipcrm').

Then try starting the engine with:

oninit -v
and capture the output to post for us to see if it still doesn't start up.

IDS V-10.00 FC6

we have 2 servers, same machine, same systeme, same configuration, same
onconfig.param , same sqlhost (except IP adress)
IDS installed on Machine-1 , runs OK
we do a complete backup with ontape -s -L 0 > backup_level0 and rcp
the file to machine-2

On the machine-2
we jave juste done
1) oninit -i Done OK
2) set OL offline
3) cat backup_level0 | ontape -p
4) set OL offline

all seems OK , but when oninit (without param)
==> Fatal error in shared memory initialization

could someone explian what happen ?
