Yes. You should set:
MULTIPROCESSOR 1 # So that the engine will use mutex locking to prevent
# multiple simultaneous updates to the
same data
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0 # if not zero then you are only allow one CPU VP
NUMCPUVPS or VPCLASS setting for CPU class VPs:
Set to at least 3 but as many as 8 - the 4 cores in your processors
are
fast enough to each support at least 2 CPU VPs

I have a machine with following configuration.

But parameters in ONCONFIG for my IDS are set as:
MULTIPROCESSOR 0 # 0 for single-processor, 1 for multi-processor
NUMCPUVPS 1 # Number of user (cpu) vps
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0 # If non-zero, limit number of cpu vps to one
I have a doubt that these parameters should be MULTIPROCESSOR=1,
NUMCPUVPS=(n-1)=(4-1)=3 and SINGLE_CPU_VP=3
>onstat -p
