Well the Java version should run fine on a Windows PC. I haven't tried
it, though. As for licensing, I don't know how they handle the user vs
computer thing. I know that I like Borland's approach to JBuilder. I can
legally install and use it on any machine that I use/own, regardless of
platform (Linux desktop at the office, Win laptop for travel). Sensible!

Oh - you might ask about a package special. We bought when they offered
a free or heavily discounted (can't remember) Win32 license with the
purchase of SSJE (Enterprise).

Unless you are doing heavy stored procedure work that requires a
debugger, I would go with the Java version. There are a few interface
differences, but they are a wash. I have noticed a few problems with
user defined row types or TimeSeries displaying well in the Java
edition, but virtual tables or a quick jaunt into DBAcess are decent
work-arounds. My perception is that AGS's resources are going into the
Java version. Several new things have been developed there (like table
re-org). IIRC from the Data Mgmt Conference - AGS has even more planned
for the Java version.

One nice thing for those that have many different servers to administer:
under one user profile you can group all your connections to the various
servers. You don't have to keep logging into every machine.
