RE: Server Studio for Informix Special Offer - up to 40% off

Sean - I know you are not the sales and marketing guy for Server Studio
but in these economic times as an Informix Consultant I need to spend
my tool money wisely. Obviously the Java client should also run on my
win32 (Win2K Pro) laptop and connect to a client's DB as well as run
on my Linux box in the home office. Too bad they don't have a single,
reasonably priced package for the road warrior that offers both products.

In any event - given the road warrior scenario - where you may be
plugging into an IDS DB running on any UNIX/Linux variant or WinNT
platform which product would you recommend?

Curious as to your response and reasoning.

The basic modules are not that robust. It seemed to me to just be a
marketing-include. For the price of IDS the full GUI toolset should be
included.

Note to those who are considering: only the Win32 version has stored
procedure debugging. You can work with stored procedures in the Java
edition, but not with a debugger. I think the main new development work
for ServerStudio is with the Java product, though. It runs pretty well
on Linux.
