Pre-Conference Tutorials

This year's conference will include a day of in-depth, half-day tutorials on Sunday, April 27th, prior to the conference start. This is an excellent way to maximize your learning potential at the conference. As you can see from the list below, we've got a great line-up of topics and instructors.

Sign up for one or two of these additional-fee tutorials when you register for the conference. The cost is $125 for one half-day session, and $200 if you elect two half-day sessions. Note that two of the sessions are free vendor-hosted full-day sessions.

TM1 Preparing for the IDS 11 Certification Exam - Guy Bowerman, Sanjit Chakraborty

TM2 Troubleshooting Methods and Techniques - Hyun-Ju Vega, Lead Instructor

This tutorial presented by members of the Informix Labs Resolution Team will explain troubleshooting techniques through a mix of classroom material and case studies of real-life situations. Students will learn Informix diagnostic methods and tools, troubleshooting performance problems, and troubleshooting connectivity and network problems.

TM3 Encryption in IDS 11 - Jonathan Leffler

This tutorial will present a detailed discussion of various aspects of encryption in IDS. Topics covered will include Column-Level Encryption (CLE), encrypted communications, encrypted backups, and encryption on disk.

TM4 Cheetah2 - The Safari Continues - Madison Pruet

This tutorial will offer a lab on the new functionality which is part of the Cheetah2 open beta. At the time of this tutorial, the new functionality will still require a non-disclosure agreement, but that requirement can be met by simply signing up for the open beta. In this abstract, we cant go into a description of just what the new functionality is, but we can promise that it will be well worth your time. So join our expedition and see the big cats in action.

TA1 Preparing for the IDS 11 Certification Exam - Repeated - Guy Bowerman, Sanjit Chakraborty

TA2 Advanced Troubleshooting Scenarios - Hyun-Ju Vega, Lead Instructor

This tutorial presented by members of the Informix Labs Resolution Team will feature the same approach as the morning troubleshooting session, mixing classroom material and case studies. Best-practice methods will be presented for diagnosing memory problems, ER/HDR problems and Windows specific problems.

TA3 IDS Does Hibernate in the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall - Jean Georges Perrin

Hibernate is one of the most popular ORM (Object Relational Mapping) tools in the Java industry. During this tutorial, we will see how we can use open-source Hibernate to increase the developers' productivity when it comes to Java / IDS development. We will see a complete step-by-step project and various CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) examples. Having basic Java / JDBC knowledge is not required but will greatly help in understanding some concepts.

TA4 Open Admin Tool API - John Miller, III

This tutorial will cover the following topics through the use of classroom material and both simple and in-depth examples:
